About Michelle

Hello! I'm Michelle, a job search coach and negotiation expert who specializes in coaching engineers and product managers on how to strategically maximize career opportunities and compensation packages.

I earned my B.S. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and contributed as a Software Engineer at  Dolby Labs, Pixar and Eventbrite. Eventually I went in search of more meaningful work and pivoted into EdTech to establish Career Services for graduates of software engineering bootcamps to help under-represented groups gain access to the Tech Industry.

After seeing thousands of offers and negotiations, I have concluded that slight variations in leverage, presentation, wording, timing and luck can create significantly varied outcomes. Women, immigrants or children of immigrants, people from dis-advantaged backgrounds, and even employees who have been tenured at a single company for a long time are at a significant disadvantage. Directness and full-transparency are great human traits but a detriment to attracting the most competitive offer.

When I am not coaching, I enjoy listening to biographical audiobooks and building sand castles in Capitola, California with my husband and our two boys.
